Earlier this afternoon, traffic police and security forces responded to reports of a collision on a neighborhood road between a tree and Faisal Effendi, the son of the minister of energy and power.
After arriving at the scene, the security forces were quickly able to ascertain the chain of events. The police report stated that the tree in question was irresponsibly planted roughly twenty years ago, on the winding route between Mr. Faisal’s home and the homes of several of his friends. The individual in charge of planting the tree chose the location with little foresight and consideration for the danger it could pose to Mr. Faisal when speeding and driving under the influence of alcohol.
Following the incident, the authorities uprooted the remnants of the tree, shoved it in the back of the police car, and transported it to the nearest police station for further investigation. While we were not able to find the identity of the man in charge of planting that tree, we can guess his fate.
According to Faisal, the whole driving experience was a disaster. “ I was forced to swerve away from cars that were not getting out of my way more than once, I even had to drive next to common cars, occupied by common people.”
Faisal succeeded in passing his driving exam with merit and an additional certificate of excellence just an hour before the incident, upon which he drove away while conducting a brief telephone call.
